The Language of God: A Scientist Presents Evidence for Belief by Francis S. Collins (Author). Does science necessarily undermine religion in God? Or may it actually assist faith? Past the flashpoint debates over the educating of evolution, or stem-cell research, most of us struggle with contradictions concerning life's final question. We all know that accidents happen, however we imagine we're on earth for a reason. Till now, most scientists have argued that science and religion occupy distinct arenas.
Francis Collins, a former atheist as a science scholar who converted to religion as he grew to become a physician, is about to change that. Collins's faith in God has been confirmed and enhanced by the revolutionary discoveries in biology that he has helped to oversee. He has absorbed the arguments for atheism of many scientists and pundits, and he can refute them. Darwinian evolution happens, but, as he explains, it can not totally explain human nature - evolution can and must be directed by God. He gives an inspiring tour of the human genome to indicate the miraculous nature of God's instruction book. Certain to be in contrast with C.S. Lewis's MERE CHRISTIANITY, it is a beautiful doc, whether or not you're a believer, a seeker, or an atheist.
Dr. Collins eloquently factors out the futility of the current "debate" raging between science and religion over the problem of evolution. The idea of evolution has turn out to be a cornerstone of biology, with mountains of evidence to assist it, and could be taken as a truth of life or all practical purposes. It doesn't disprove the existence of an intellegent Designer that takes an interest is on a regular basis lives of human beings, nor does it mean that humans aren't particular and unique simply because they share a typical ancestor with apes (and with all animals).
The conflict between science and faith is performed and propagated by extremeists on both sides, to the detriment of everyone. When a pastor or guardian teaches that evolution is a lie, he's doing an incredible disservice to the one he teaches and to the picture of religion as a whole. Younger those that hear these teachings will at some point be confronted with compelling proof for evolution and will probably find yourself turning from God. Additionally, people that are educated in regards to the evidence for evolution are turned off to religion as a whole once they hear such claims. Why would an all-highly effective God be threatened by science aimed at uncovering the reality about how life works or how outdated the earth is?
Whereas Dr. Collins would not present any new or astounding evidence for both the speculation of evolution or the existence of God, he does make a powerful case for the co-existence of the 2 in harmony. Science can not and doesn't try and reply unaswerable questions such as "Why are we here?" or "Is there an afterlife?". Faith should not be threatened by honest research geared toward understanding our world. The conflict between faith and science happens to the detriment to each other and to the world.
Faith in God is an individual quest for each of us, while science is the search for humankind as an entire to know our universe. The two are and will stay separate.
The more folks that read this ebook, the better. Highly Recommended.
